Classes and Tours for Expecting Parents

This class is designed to prepare parents for pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care and breastfeeding. We will use the Plumtree baby Curriculum, an evidence based look at birth, labor and postpartum care. Both childbirth classes, are designed to give a well rounded understanding of the natural process of childbirth. We will discuss breathing techniques and the importance of breathing during the Labor and Birth process.

Topic areas include:

  • Birth Choices, Labor Variations, Comfort Measures, Postpartum Period, and Breastfeeding.

The class will be taught through a variety of methods to include group activities, discussion and power points. Please come prepared to participate. All questions welcome both during class and breaks.

We encourage partners and support persons to attend. No persons under the age of 16, unless they are the expectant parents.

Refreshments and snacks will be offered during the childbirth classes.

Breastfeeding Classes

Breastfeeding is not only convenient, but it also has health benefits for both mother and child. This class will cover all the basics, including practical solutions to common problems. Fathers are welcome to attend this class. Pre-registration is required. These classes are held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the large room Rehab B of the Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center. Drive to the back of the hospital off John Carlisle Ln.
