The Lactation Services

Cape Fear Valley has Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultants available seven days a week to assist new moms. Our lactation consultants are here to help new moms during their hospital stay and beyond. All our consultants have specialized training to assist with both routine and specialized breastfeeding situations.

• Breastfeeding classes
• Telephone assistance with breastfeeding questions
• Electric breast pumps and nursing supplies available for purchase in all three pharmacies at discounted prices

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and the International Lactation Consultant Association has awarded Cape Fear Valley Health System the Care Award. This award is for Cape Fear Valley’s dedication to its lactation program, which protects, promotes and supports breastfeeding to patients and provides breastfeeding training to staff.
