Joint Replacement Club

Joint Replacement Clubs have been shown to improve outcomes, increase patient satisfaction and reduce length of stay. Patients find the experience is just more enjoyable

Our Joint Replacement Club is a carefully thought out and rigorous program designed to assist joint replacement patients before, during and after surgery. Patients stay in the Joint Replacement Club on the inpatient unit for 1-3 days after surgery.

Each morning the patient is assisted to get up, get washed and change into comfortable clothes - shorts and T-shirt or sweatpants and sweatshirt depending on their personal comfort level. The patient will sit in a recliner for breakfast and then go to group physical therapy. All patients participate in group therapy for an hour in the morning and in the afternoon. Participants are also encouraged to walk when they are not in therapy.

Cape Fear Valley Healh Has Two Joint Replacement Centers

Cape Fear Valley Health's Joint Replacement Centers are designated Centers of Excellence by The Joint Commission. This designation ensures that hip and knee replacement programs at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and Hoke Hospital meet national guidelines and clinical practice recommendations and are awarded after an extensive, onsite review.

Our award-winning Joint Replacement Club was first honored in November 2010 with The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for quality in the areas of Total Knee replacement surgery and Total Hip replacement surgery. Since then, Cape Fear Valley has maintained Joint Commission Disease-Specific Certification for hip and knee replacement. Hoke Hospital has maintained Joint Commission Disease-Specific certification for hip and knee replacement since 2019.

Each of our Joint Replacement Club areas are located away from patients with serious illnesses or infections to reduce the risk of infection. Joint replacement surgery is not performed on sick patients, so patients do not wear hospital gowns or pajamas.
