Support Services
The Cancer Center has three master's-prepared social workers to help cancer patients and their families cope with the disease and its stressful effects, like family relationships, anxiety, depression, grief and other emotions. The Oncology Social Workers also facilitate our five unique support groups, help with referrals to community programs and can help identify ways to meet financial needs for those who meet eligibility guidelines. Support services include:
Assistance with applications for Social Security, disability, SSI and Medicaid;
Referrals to community agencies;
Assistance working with Friends of the Cancer Center and other resources to meet
the expenses of cancer treatment for eligible patients;
Resources for transportation; and
Resources for prescription drugs.
