Cape Fear Valley Health presents Quarter awards

5/23/2023

Each quarter, Cape Fear Valley Health recognizes members of its medical staff. These winners are later considered for an annual award, which is recognized each year on Doctor’s Day.

For the first quarter of 2023, the winners are Physician of the Quarter David Allison, MD.; Resident of the Quarter Hilary Strong, MD; and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Quarter Casi Gilmer, NP. The awards were presented earlier this month, at a Cape Fear Valley Medical Staff meeting.

Dr. Allison is an interventional radiologist with Valley Radiology. He was nominated for his willingness to help the inpatient staff with difficult procedures and for the helpful way he shares his knowledge.

Allison received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, W. Va., where he also completed his residency. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology.

Dr. Strong is a second-year Psychiatry resident. She was nominated for her compassionate, professional and proactive advocacy to improve patient care, practices and resident wellness. Her nomination also cited her involvement in the community through health education presentations with the Better Health Foundation and a wellness event as part of the psychiatry program at Fayetteville Academy.

Strong received her medical degree from University College Dublin School of Medicine and Medical Science.

Nurse Practitioner Casi Gilmer works at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Long-Term Acute Care. She was nominated because she “exemplifies excellence with a patient-centered response that exudes concern for the whole person.” Her nomination describes her as open, honest, respectful and empowering, as well as someone nurses can readily turn to for help with both patient care and personal concerns.
Gilmer is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a certified Wound Care Specialist.

The quarterly and annual Medical Staff recognitions are made possible by The Caduceus Society of Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, a leadership association of Cape Fear Valley Health Physicians, Emeritus Physicians and affiliated area physicians with a continuing commitment to the ideals of our hospital and a common mission to provide the highest quality healthcare to our community.
