Summer Blood Donors Needed

7/9/2018

DUNN - School's out for summer, and so are some of the biggest blood donors of the year.

Half of all blood transfused into Cape Fear Valley Health patients, from September through June, is donated by local high school students. That's why blood supply can drop dangerously low during summer months.

Blood is the most precious gift anyone can give to another person: The gift of life. That's why Cape Fear Valley Blood Donor Center wants blood donations for those urgently in need.

All blood types are needed. Without volunteer blood donations from the community, Harnett Health's ability to adequately serve patients may be jeopardized. Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington and Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn receive blood exclusively from Cape Fear Valley Blood Donor Center.

Area residents can donate blood during the following drives on Thursday, July 19:

  • Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, from 8 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, from 1:30 - 5 p.m.
