About Ellen Wilson, AUD

Ellen Wilson, AuD is an audiologist dedicated to providing expert audiology and ENT services, including audiologic rehabilitation for hearing loss and balance disorders. She offers comprehensive evaluations to diagnose hearing, tinnitus, and vestibular concerns, and creates evidence-based, personalized rehabilitation plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Ellen’s path to audiology began at UNC–Chapel Hill, where she initially studied mathematics before discovering her passion for speech and hearing sciences. With hearing loss prevalent in her family, she already had a strong personal understanding of the field and chose to pursue audiology knowing it required advanced graduate training. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UNC–Chapel Hill and later completed her Doctorate in Audiology at Central Michigan University.

Ellen believes hearing health is essential to overall quality of life, playing a critical role in communication, cognition, education, socialization, safety, and spatial awareness. With many years of experience in diagnostic ENT, she is well-versed in ear pathology and values the diversity of ear disease presentations, viewing each patient as an opportunity to deepen her knowledge and provide exceptional care. She especially enjoys working with patients she can personally relate to, allowing for open, effective communication grounded in shared experiences.

Known for her empathetic and patient-centered approach, Ellen takes time to educate patients using clear, accessible language and to support them emotionally as they navigate hearing loss or balance concerns. She emphasizes that patients are not alone and that effective treatment options and hope are always part of the conversation. She is also passionate about dispelling common myths surrounding hearing aids, focusing on individualized solutions rather than “one-size-fits-all” devices.

Ellen encourages proactive hearing care and believes all adults should obtain a baseline audiogram by age 30, even in the absence of symptoms. Her commitment to excellence ensures patients and their families receive clear communication, compassionate support, and confidence in managing their auditory health.
