Cape Fear Valley Health will offer free health screenings as well as free on-site one-on-one appointments with providers during this year’s Umoja Festival on Saturday, Aug. 23. The health clinic and screenings will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside Smith Recreation Center at Seabrook Park, near Fayetteville State University.

The free clinic benefits the uninsured or underinsured and will offer blood pressure screenings, glucose screenings, cholesterol screenings, lung function screenings, high-risk breast cancer screenings and more. After participants finish the health screenings, they can meet with a doctor on-site to review their results and discuss concerns. Participants will also be given a copy of all their screening numbers for their records.

There are no reserved appointments this year; the event is first-come, first-served. All of the doctors will be providers or resident physicians from Cape Fear Valley Health.

As well as screenings, the clinic will include opportunities to learn about hands-only CPR, stroke awareness, breast cancer awareness, Stop the Bleed, awareness about high-risk diseases in minority populations and more.

Cape Fear Valley Health is proud to return again to this free, family-friendly event and be a part of the 33rd annual Umoja Festival, which is hosted by the Umoja Group. This year’s festival theme is “Past, Present & Future.” The festival, which includes arts, entertainment, food trucks and culture, runs until 5 p.m. and is open to the public.
