PGY-1

As a first-year resident, you will serve as a patient’s primary physician under the supervision of an attending +/- an upper-level resident.

The PGY-1 schedule consists of:

 

  • 5 months inpatient/night medicine
  • 1 month critical care medicine 
  • 1 month emergency medicine
  • 2 months of ambulatory medicine
  • 3 months of subspeciality electives

 

PGY-2 (accordion)

As a second-year resident, you will play an important role in the management of the medical team and teaching first-year residents and student learners.  Our senior inpatient schedule is 7 days on / 7 days off.  This allows the senior resident the ability to

  • Try out a typical hospitalist schedule
  • Focus on the inpatient service without other clinical responsibilities
  • Utilize the 7 days off for individualized learning experiences
  • Have a better work life balance  
The PGY-2 schedule consists of:

 

  • 4 months inpatient (7 on / 7 off)
  • 1 month night medicine
  • 2 months hospitalist service (7 on / 7 off)
  • 1 month critical care
  • 2 months ambulatory medicine
  • 2 months of subspeciality electives

 

PGY-3

As a third-year resident, you will continue to expand your clinical skills and leadership role.   Our senior inpatient schedule is 7 days on / 7 days off.  This allows the senior resident the ability to

  • Try out a typical hospitalist schedule
  • Focus on the inpatient service without other clinical responsibilities
  • Utilize the 7 days off for individualized learning experiences
  • Have a better work life balance  
The PGY-3 schedule consists of:
  • 2 months inpatient (7 on / 7 off)
  • 1 month night medicine
  • 3 months Senior Admitting Resident
  • 1 month critical care
  • 2 months ambulatory medicine
  • 4 months of subspeciality electives
