About Kyle McCarthy, PA
Kyle McCarthy is our outpatient palliative care physician assistant. Originally from Tannersville, Pennsylvania, he attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania for both of his degrees in Health Science and PA school. He worked for an emergency response service in his hometown for several years as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and is experienced in prehospital medicine.
Kyle moved to Fayetteville in 2022 to provide adult hospital medicine at Cape Fear Valley Health focusing on inpatient care. He enjoyed the fast-paced variety of patients, conditions and the complex problem solving they require. Simultaneously, he provided care in adolescent and adult hospital psychiatry for Community Mental Health Center.
Kyle transitioned to Cape Fear Valley Palliative Care in 2025 to further the quality of life of cancer patients so they can continue to do the things that matter to them without letting cancer, or its treatment, be a barrier to enjoying life. He has a particular interest in advance care planning, and teaching PA and NP students.
Outside of palliative care, Kyle enjoys trying to discover new great places to eat, recommending 316 Oyster Bar locally. Apart from that, he enjoys working overtime to continuously spoil his beloved tabby cat, Ophelia, whom he adopted straight from the parking lot behind Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. His favorite vacation spot is Tucson, Arizona and has never been to a Margaritaville he didn't like.
