When will I receive information about my first day?

You will receive onboarding instructions with details about your first day, including arrival time, location, orientation requirements, and any items you need to complete before starting.

Where do I report on my first day?

Your first-day reporting location and arrival instructions will be provided in your onboarding materials. If you have questions before your start date, please contact your recruiter or Human Resources representative.

What should I bring with me on my first day?

Please bring any required identification or documentation requested during the onboarding process. Additional details about what to bring will be included in your pre-employment communications.

What should I expect during New Employee Orientation?

Orientation is designed to introduce you to Cape Fear Valley Health, our mission and values, employee resources, benefits, policies, and tools you will use in your role.


Pre-Employment Requirements

What steps must I complete before my first day?

Before beginning employment, new team members must complete required pre-employment steps, which may include background screening, employment and education verification, health requirements, required forms, and other onboarding activities.

How do I complete my background check?

You will receive an email invitation from our background screening partner with instructions to complete the required forms. Please complete this information promptly to avoid delays in your start date.

What happens if I have questions about my pre-employment requirements?

Your recruiter or Human Resources representative can assist you with questions about required onboarding steps.


Employee Resources & Technology

What systems will I use as a new employee?

Cape Fear Valley Health uses several technology platforms to support employees, including Workday for HR-related information and other systems specific to your role and department.

How do I access my employee information?

Employees can access important employment information through Workday, including personal information, payroll details, benefits, time tracking, and other HR resources.

Who do I contact if I need help with technology access?

For assistance with system access, passwords, or technical issues, contact the Information Technology Help Desk.

When will I receive my employee badge and system access?

Your department and onboarding team will provide information about badge access, system credentials, and other role-specific resources.


Benefits & Wellness

When do my benefits begin?

Benefit eligibility and effective dates vary based on your employment status and hire date. Detailed information will be provided during the benefits enrollment process.

How do I enroll in benefits?

You will receive instructions on how to review your options and complete enrollment after becoming eligible.

What resources are available to support my well-being?

Cape Fear Valley Health offers resources designed to support your physical, emotional, financial, and overall well-being, including Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services.


Workplace Expectations

What should I know about workplace safety?

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Employees are encouraged to report safety concerns, workplace injuries, illnesses, and potential hazards through established reporting processes.

Who do I contact if I have a workplace concern?

Employees are encouraged to speak with their leader, Human Resources, or the appropriate support department depending on the nature of the concern.

What should I do if I need a workplace accommodation?

Cape Fear Valley Health is committed to supporting employees and will review reasonable accommodation requests related to disabilities, medical needs, cultural beliefs, ethical beliefs, and religious practices. Contact Human Resources for assistance.

EPIC

What is Epic? 

Epic is the Electronic Health Record used by Cape Fear Valley Health for documentation of patient care, billing, registration, bed planning, and numerous other uses.

Will I be required to attend Epic training to start my job? 

All employees working in all patient care and/or patient care areas, registration, billing, etc. will require training to access Epic. Additional details will be provided on Day One.

Where will training be held? 

Training will take place in several areas depending on your job role such as in your department/unit, CFV main campus or one of our offsite locations in Fayetteville.

Will transportation be provided for offsite training (training not at Cape Fear Valley's main campus)? 

While you are encouraged to arrange for your own transportation, we can provide transportation on New Employee Orientation Day One to any training location not at CFV main campus for anyone without transportation. Transportation will not be provided from that location back to CFV Main Campus. No transportation will be provided on Day Two. If you need transportation to an off-site location you will have the opportunity to let the orientation team know during orientation. 

How many days will I have to attend Epic training?

Epic training typically lasts 1–2 days, depending on your job role.

What are the hours of training? 

Training will be held between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The duration of the training will vary depending on your job role.

When will I receive my Epic training schedule? 

Your Epic training schedule will be provided on NEO Day One.

Will I be paid for the hours/days I'm attending training? 

Yes, you will be paid for all Epic training hours.

Who should I contact if I need assistance, or have an issue, the day of training?

Contact the manager or educator for your department/unit.

Will breakfast/lunch be served? 

No, breakfast will not be served. You will be allowed to have a 30-minute meal break on Day Two if Epic training lasts longer than 5 hours.

What is the dress code? 

You may wear scrubs or casual business attire for all training classes. Room temperatures may vary, so it is recommended that you bring a sweater/light jacket.
