Welcome to ExpressCare, your go-to place for walk-in medical care. We're here to provide quick, quality care for those ailments that aren't life-threatening but still need prompt attention.
ExpressCare at Cape Fear Valley Health
Urgent care centers are walk-in medical clinics designed to handle health issues that aren’t an emergency but still need care. They bridge the gap between doctor visits, which might require an appointment, and emergency rooms, which are for severe cases.
At ExpressCare, whether you're dealing with flu symptoms or minor injuries, our team is ready to assist. Each of our three conveniently located centers is equipped with advanced facilities to ensure you receive care without long waits.
Trust ExpressCare for timely, effective healthcare when you need it most.
Should I go to ExpressCare or the Emergency Department (ED)?
Urgent care and the ED both address medical issues that need prompt attention, but they serve different purposes.
Choose urgent care for non-life-threatening problems that you'd like treated soon but aren't severe. Think of health issues such as:
- Flu symptoms
- Minor cuts
- Sprains
Urgent care is especially handy when your regular doctor isn’t available.
On the other hand, head to the ED for serious, potentially life-threatening situations such as:
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe injuries
In short, if it feels like a serious threat to your life or long-term health, go to the ER. For less severe issues, urgent care is a great choice.
Our Approach to Urgent Care
At our ExpressCares, our approach to urgent care is rooted in providing swift, yet comprehensive medical attention tailored to each patient. We understand that when you visit us, you want relief from discomfort or worry. That's why our dedicated team always takes the time to listen to what you have to say.
We conduct appropriate tests, provide accurate diagnoses and then offer treatments or prescriptions that suit your specific needs. Plus, if further care is required, we're proactive in helping set up follow-up appointments.
Our aim isn't just to treat the symptom but to understand and address the underlying concern. This ensures that you leave our doors with both comfort and clarity.
What to Expect With ExpressCare
When you first walk into an ExpressCare location, you’ll be greeted and prompted to register at a kiosk. Registration staff may check in with you if more information is needed. From there, you’ll be seen by triage. You’ll either be taken directly to a room or asked to sit in the waiting area until a room becomes available.
Then you'll be seen by one of our medical professionals. The healthcare provider will:
- Listen to your symptoms and concerns
- Conduct any necessary tests using our on-site facilities
- Offer a diagnosis and treatment
If needed, prescriptions will be provided or arrangements for follow-up care will be made.
Do I Need To Bring Anything to ExpressCare?
To be seen at ExpressCare, you’ll need to bring a license or ID and your insurance card (if you have one).
My experience was great! I was sick of course and everyone especially the triage nurse Precious was so sweet and caring to begin with, then my nurse Lori was the same and very calming and humble. Dr. Barnes was awesome! He took his time and was very informative, explained everything with lots of patience, care, and understanding. I was most definitely impressed because most urgent cares are not good and depressing honestly. Thank you to all the staff for making it as pleasant as possible. It means so much when someone is sick! i appreciate it very much and God bless you! 🙏
Been here twice for my son when I couldn’t get him to his regular dr office same day. Both experiences were wonderful. My son is terrified of the word “doctor” but the staff made him so comfortable. From the woman that took his vitals, to the poor lady that had to do his nose swab all the way to the PA, it was a great experience. I never felt rushed and it genuinely seemed like they cared.
The wait time both times were less than average for urgent cares in my experience. The check in process is a bit cumbersome, I wish they had at least 2 kiosks. It took 30 mins just to check in but we were out 30 mins after so an hour total.
