Symptoms of Anxiety
You can help your loved one recognize the signs of anxiety. Some general signs of anxiety include:
- Physical symptoms
- Cold or sweaty hands
- Dry mouth
- Heart palpitations
- Nausea
- Mental symptoms
- Feeling panic, fear and uneasiness
- Nightmares
- Uncontrollable, obsessive thoughts
- Behavioral symptoms
- Inability to be still and calm
- Ritualistic behaviors, such as washing hands repeatedly
- Trouble sleeping
When to Seek Care for Anxiety
If you think you or someone you love has symptoms of anxiety, talk to your healthcare provider. Primary care providers will talk with you about your symptoms during the visit. They will review your medical history to check if the symptoms may be caused by certain medications or other health conditions.
