Patients and families are at the heart of everything we do at Cape Fear Valley Health. We are currently recruiting current and former patients, and their family members, to join our Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). Council members will have the opportunity to share their experiences, insights, and ideas to help strengthen and enhance the patient experience across our health system.

The Ideal Patient & Family Advisory Council Member

  • Communicates perspectives in a way that others can understand and appreciate
  • Asks thoughtful questions and offers honest, constructive feedback
  • Listens to and learns from the experiences and viewpoints of others
  • Thinks beyond their individual experience to support broader improvement
  • Provides feedback rooted in our shared commitment to exceptional patient care

Requirements and Considerations Before Applying

Cape Fear Valley Health is committed to ensuring that every Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) member is prepared, supported, and set up for success. To uphold this standard, we provide comprehensive orientation, training, and onboarding for all applicants. Because of the time and resources invested, we ask for a meaningful commitment from each council member.

To Join the Patient and Family Advisory Council, we ask that you:

  • Be a current or past Cape Fear Valley Health patient or a family member of a current or past Cape Fear Valley Health patient.
  • Commit to 2 years of service.
  • Commit to attend meetings.
  • Complete necessary training and orientation.
  • Uphold Cape Fear Valley Health’s values and our shared focus on exceptional patient care.
