Cape Fear Valley Health has named Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital President Michael Tart to succeed Cape Fear Valley Harnett Healthcare President Cory Hess. Last month, Hess announced his plans to step down at the end of December.

Tart, who is a native of Harnett County, has been with Cape Fear Valley Health for ten years. During that time, he has held roles as Vice President of Ambulatory Services, Executive Director of the Cape Fear Valley Medical Group and Director of Finance for Ambulatory Services. He stepped into his current position in 2023.

Tart attended East Carolina University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration with a Concentration in Health Care Administration.
