Cape Fear Valley Health is pleased to announce that it has resumed filing insurance claims for prescriptions. The health system's ability to file insurance claims for prescriptions was halted last month after the national cybersecurity attack on Change Healthcare.

Patients who would like to rebill their insurance and be reimbursed accordingly for prescriptions that were purchased without insurance during the outage should contact their pharmacy.

"We're working our way through a backlog of about 10,000 claims that we are now able to file," said Executive Corporate Director of Outpatient Pharmacy Deanna Thompson. "We appreciate everyone's patience as we work to reprocess everyone's claims."

On Feb. 21, Change Healthcare announced that it had been impacted by a cyberattack. The healthcare technology company provides claims processing and payments for Cape Fear Valley Health’s pharmacies, along with many other healthcare providers across the country.
