About Usman Younus, MD
Dr. Usman Younus is a board-certified critical care physician at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he has been caring for critically ill patients since August 2018. He practices in a high-acuity medical, surgical, and cardiothoracic intensive care unit and has extensive experience managing complex critical illness, including cardiogenic shock, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support such as IABP, Impella devices, and ECMO.
Dr. Younus completed his Internal Medicine residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by Nephrology and Critical Care fellowships at Washington University in St. Louis. He is certified in Nephrology, Critical Care Medicine, and Critical Care Echocardiography. His clinical interests include post–cardiac surgery critical care, acute kidney injury, and multidisciplinary ICU management.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Younus serves as faculty for the Critical Care Fellowship and is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as participating in quality improvement initiatives focused on improving outcomes for critically ill patients.
