Shaquita Coleman, NP

Shaquita Coleman, NP—known affectionately by patients and colleagues as “Shaq”—is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner with a warm, approachable demeanor and a passion for empowering patients through education and compassionate care. She brings extensive experience in pain management, behavioral health, and emergency medicine to her role at Cape Fear Valley Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Before joining Cape Fear Valley, Coleman served as a Nurse Practitioner with RPK Spine and Pain Management, where she focused on comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for acute and chronic pain conditions. Her background also includes leadership as a Patient Care Manager and several years as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse with Cape Fear Valley Health System, where she emphasized communication, family engagement, and quality improvement. Earlier in her career, she gained valuable frontline experience as an Emergency Room Nurse with INOVA Health System in Virginia.

Coleman is passionate about helping patients understand their care plans, manage medications safely, and adopt preventive strategies for long-term wellness. She is committed to listening actively, thinking critically, and creating a supportive environment where every patient feels heard and cared for.
