About Dr. Kelly Orgel
Dr. Kelly Orgel is joining the Cape Fear Valley Neonatology team after completing her medical training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Orgel has called North Carolina home since beginning her undergraduate education at UNC. She went on to earn both her MD and PhD at UNC, with her graduate work focused on Cell Biology and Physiology, followed by her Pediatric Residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at UNC. Her scientific training continues to shape the way she approaches patient care, bringing curiosity, critical thinking, and a problem-solving mindset to each patient and family she serves.
Dr. Orgel’s passion for neonatology is deeply personal. Her daughter, Emma, was born extremely prematurely at 25 weeks and spent four months in the UNC NICU. That experience profoundly shaped Dr. Orgel’s decision to become a neonatologist and continues to influence the way she cares for babies and supports their families. Having experienced the NICU from both sides of the bedside, she understands the uncertainty, fear, and hope that families experience during their time in the NICU. Family advocacy and support are among her primary professional interests, and she is passionate about helping families feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout their NICU journey. That perspective is at the heart of every interaction she has with patients and families.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Orgel enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their children, Aiden and Emma. As a family, they love traveling, bike riding, camping, cheering on their kids at their many sporting events, and making the most of time together. They love dogs and will be adding a puppy to the crazy mix this year.
Dr. Orgel is thrilled to join Cape Fear Valley Health and looks forward to becoming part of the community and caring for its tiniest patients and their families.
