About Chika N Okafor, MD
Dr. Chika Okafor serves as an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Cape Fear Valley Health and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Methodist University–Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine. She joined the health system in 2008 as a full-time hospitalist and has since played a key role in resident education and faculty leadership.
Dr. Okafor earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southern University at New Orleans and received her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2005. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Dr. Okafor has served as a preceptor for medical students, nurse practitioner students, and physician assistant students. Her dedication to teaching and mentorship reflects her commitment to training the next generation of physicians. She has also contributed to institutional excellence through her work on several hospital committees, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Clinical Performance Improvement Committee, Credentials Committee, and Institutional Review Board.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Okafor lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina, with her husband and their three children. She has a passion for travel and enjoys exploring different cultures around the world with her family.
