Paul Sparzak, DO
Dr. Sparzak is the Program Director for the OB/GYN Residency Program. He has served as the Director of Medical Education for Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Dr. Sparzak has served as preceptor for medical students, physician assistant students and nurse practitioners from Campbell University, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Methodist University. He earned and Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Mathematics from Hampden-Sydney College in 2000. He is a graduate of Midwestern University-Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) in 2004. Dr. Sparzak completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency training at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, a program associated the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed a Fellowship in Minimally Advance Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery sponsored by the AAGL at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Dr. Sparzak came to North Carolina in 2009 and joined Cape Fear Valley OB/GYN practice. He has served as Clinical Faculty for the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program for seven (7) years. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association. He is Board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Sparzak is an avid traveler and has come to love the world of steam trains through his two sons, Matthew's and Liam's love of trains. He is married to a devoted wife, Monica, who has been supportive and instrumental in helping him continue his desire to teach the next generation of physicians.
