Healing Touch
Healing Touch is a biofield (energy-based) therapy. Using non-invasive techniques, the therapist’s hands are placed over the patient’s body to balance and rejuvenate the human energy system, promoting healing. Patients have the choice of a touch or no-touch session.

Healing Touch is certified as a biofield therapy through the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).
Those who have experienced a Healing Touch session often report feeling more relaxed physically, emotionally, mentally and even spiritually.

Healing Touch sessions are given in the Oasis Room by appointment. Please call 615-7811 to book your session.

Massage Therapy
Receiving a massage feels good, but did you know that it has many other benefits?
Studies have demonstrated that massage therapy benefits the treatment of chronic and acute pain, anxiety, depression and other symptoms you may face during your cancer treatment.

Massage therapy sessions are held in the Oasis Room by appointment. A minimal fee applies for the service. Call (910) 615-7811 to book your session.

Reflexology
Reflexology or zone therapy is based on the principle that the reflex points in the hands and feet correspond to other parts of the body within the same zone. Reflexology blends together touch and massage therapies. The therapist applies pressure to specific points on a patients hands and feet, which may bring relief to the corresponding part of the body.

Although the results are different for each patient, reflexology therapy is known to counteract stress and bring a sense of balance to those who receive it. For some patients, reflexology may even bring some relief from their medical conditions. Reflexology sessions are held in the Oasis Room by appointment. A minimal fee applies for the service. Call (910) 615-7811 to book your session.

Art Therapy
Art therapy uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of patients. This weekly class allows patients to create visual representation of their thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment. For more information, please call 615-6791.

Look Good, Feel Better®
The Cancer Center offers a supportive, informative, enjoyable first step toward renewed self-esteem, self-confidence and emotional recovery for female cancer patients undergoing radiation and/or chemotherapy.

This is a free, national public service program to help women undergoing cancer treatment learn to cope with the appearance-related side effects of treatment and regain a sense of self confidence and control over their lives. These side effects may include hair loss and changes in complexion and fingernails, and are often emotionally and psychologically traumatizing.

This program is primarily offered in group sessions providing education, information and support. In “Look Good…Feel Better” sessions, certified volunteer cosmetologists teach women how to enhance their appearance using make-up techniques. Each woman learns to perform her own makeover using complimentary cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry for use during the program and later at home.

Patients also learn how to disguise hair loss using wigs, turbans, scarves and various accessories. “Look Good…Feel Better” is product neutral (no specific product, brand or manufacturer is recommended or endorsed) and makes no medical claims. Sessions and materials are provided at no charge.

Sessions are offered every third Monday of the month at 9 a.m. at the Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center.
