One of the many keys to long, lasting success in any Bariatric Weight Loss Program is having a sense of belonging and community. Many studies show that bariatric weight loss patients often experience physical and psychosocial stressors, and difficulty adjusting to significant lifestyle changes. Add to the traditional stressors the isolation and stress that has come with the COVID-19 pandemic, and you find yourself facing a recipe for disaster.

Your success is our goal, and we know that belonging to a social group provides patients with support, ideas, skills, and nutritional information that are valuable components of bariatric care. Support group attendance leading up to, and following bariatric intervention is associated with greater weight loss. As a matter of safety, comfort and convenience in the COVID-19 era, Cape Fear Valley is now hosting our monthly support group virtually. Cape Fear Valley is offering multiple ways to stay connected and engaged with a community of fellow Bariatric Weight Loss Program patients, healthcare professionals, and guest speakers every month.

Join us each and every third Thursday from 6-7 PM for a wealth of support, information, and affirmation along your journey! Use the form submission below to connect to a Bariatric Weight Loss Specialist with your questions, comments and concerns prior to every support group Meeting. Feel free to utilize the submission form below to submit your tips, questions, comments or concerns. Please submit no later than 5pm on the 12th day of each month to guarantee your question, comment or concern becomes a part of that month's agenda.
