The
Children's Center
Cape Fear Valley offers the community's only civilian inpatient pediatric unit, The Children's Center. This 24-bed facility is decorated with a child-friendly "Jungle Safari" theme. The private rooms contain fold-out "Murphy" beds, allowing parents to stay comfortably overnight with their children.
Each of our staff members has been specifically trained to meet the needs of children and to provide quality and compassionate medical care. There is a Child Life Specialist on staff to assist children in adjusting to the hospital environment. Pediatric Social Work Services are available to provide emotional support to the child and family. There is a Pediatric Playroom with various toys and activities for children of all ages.
The Children’s Center includes a five-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for critically ill children.
Children also receive medical outpatient treatment at our Minor Treatment Center, where parents can arrange to meet their pediatrician after office hours, should the need arise.
