Support Services
The Cancer Center has two master’s prepared social workers to help cancer patients and their families cope with cancer and its stressful effects on:

Family Relationships

Emotional needs
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Grief
The Oncology Social Workers can also help with referrals to community programs and, financial needs (must meet eligibility guidelines):

Assistance with applications for Social Security Disability, SSI and Medicaid

Referrals to community agencies

Qualified patients may be provided with assistance with expenses of cancer treatment through Friends of the Cancer Center and other resources

Recources for transportation

Resources for prescription drugs
The Oncology Social Workers also facilitate four support groups for patients and family members and friends who are dealing with cancer.
