Medical Oncology
 Chemotherapy continues to achieve better outcomes for cancer patients due to the improved combinations of cancer drugs. The Cancer Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System provides convenient outpatient care as well as extensive inpatient cancer care at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.In the Medical Oncology Department, located within The Cancer Center, services are customized, from the waiting room to the treatment setting – even our certified staff and extended office hours. Our treatment facility has wider doorways for wheelchairs, electric scales for wheelchair accommodation and electric exam tables for easy transfers. There are 16 treatment recliners and four treatment beds, offering the choice of privacy or the camaraderie of other cancer patients. The nurses have received special training and maintain national certification in oncology nursing so that they have a better understanding of the unique healthcare needs of the cancer patient. We offer a multidisciplinary team approach with a focus on continuity of care to assist our patients in accessing the most up-to-date cancer treatment. Three full-time board-certified oncologists and one certified family nurse practitioner deliver care on-site in the ambulatory setting. The medical oncologists who practice in The Cancer Center include: Kamal Bakri, M.D. Sajjad Malick, M.D. Kenneth Manning, M.D. Approximately 180 patients at The Cancer Center are participating in a variety of clinical trials. Clinical trials offer additional treatment options for many patients. Medical Oncology patients are treated at Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, N.C. and at a satellite clinic in Dunn, N.C.
