Cancer Resource Center
The Cancer Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System believes cancer patients can make better decisions about their cancer treatment when they have current information.
The Cancer Resource Center, located in the Friends of the Cancer Center lounge, offers up-to-date information on many aspects of cancer care, as well as hospital and community resources. The public is welcome to use the Cancer Resource Center.
For the latest cancer information, you can access CancerHelp, a touch-screen computer that includes information on cancer drugs, medical information, cancer resources and National Cancer Institute pamphlets. Much of the information is available in both English and Spanish.
The Cancer Resource Center includes a collection of books, videotapes, pamphlets and magazines that can be checked out for at-home reading and viewing, including:
- Books – educational, inspirational and humorous
- Pamphlets – cancer prevention, treatment and detection; grief and loss support and complementary medicine
- Videotapes – cancer diagnosis and treatment; and patient support
- Audiotapes – classical music, guided imagery tapes and books on tape
The Cancer Resource Center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop in at the Friends of the Cancer Center lounge, located off the lobby, and a volunteer will help you check out materials and show you how to use the computer.
