Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy is a modality used for improving or maintaining function by utilizing the unique properties of water.  The program’s philosophy is to work toward restoring each person’s physical and emotional well-being based on his or her individual needs and goals in a comfortable and fun environment making each experience enjoyable and rewarding.

Individualized and group sessions are available.  A physician prescription or referral for treatment stating the diagnosis is required for a patient to participate in the aquatic therapy program.

Patients are screened before entering the program to ensure there are no contraindications (reason why a person would be inappropriate for aquatic therapy).  Contraindications could include: open/draining wounds, bowel incontinence, deep vein thrombosis, tracheotomy, severe respiratory infection, and non-tunnel catheters.
