FETAL CIRCULATION

 

 

 Basically, in fetal days, the majority of the  fetus’ blood volume by-passes pulmonary circulation—it does this by leaving the right side of the heart and using 2 of 3 fetal shunts

 

While the fetus does make respiratory-like movements, the placenta is the organ of nutrition, waste removal and oxygenation for the fetus.
