FAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley Health has been awarded a combined $8,000 grant for patient art therapy.
The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County has awarded a $2,000 grant for Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center’s Artful Reflections program. The joint venture between the Cancer Center and the Arts Council is offered to both patients and caregivers as a creative outlet to process and express feelings while also supporting others with similar circumstances.
The second grant is for $6,000 to be used by Cape Fear Valley’s Behavioral Health Art Therapy Program. The pilot program is based on the Cancer Center offering. It will be offered to inpatients in the Behavioral Health Unit at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
“The Arts Council is pleased to partner with Cape Fear Valley Health in support of their Artful Reflections and Behavioral Health Art Therapy programs,” said Deborah Martin Mintz, Arts Council Executive Director.
This is the eighth year the Arts Council has awarded Cape Fear Valley Health grant money toward art programs. The Art Council’s annual Project Support Grants will help fund 23 projects from 20 nonprofit organizations this year. The goal is to strengthen the local community through festivals, concerts, youth education programs, art exhibitions and workshops.
