Blood Donor Center Opening Saturday Due To Shortage From Hurricane Florence

9/19/2018

FAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley Blood Donor Center will open Saturday, Sept. 22, due to an extremely short blood supply caused by Hurricane Florence. Blood donations of all types are urgently needed.

Located at 3357 Village Drive, the Blood Donor Center will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center will also be open this Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The current blood supply shortage was caused by area school cancellations due to Hurricane Florence. High school blood drives provide 40 percent of the blood used in transfusions at Cape Fear Valley Health.

Every pint of blood donated to the Blood Donor Center goes back into the local community to help save patient lives. To schedule an appointment or to learn more about the special Saturday hours, call (910) 615-LIFE.
