Cape Fear Valley Wins State Education Award For Workforce Development Efforts

Cape Fear Valley Health System, along with the Cumberland County School System and Fayetteville Technical Community College, was honored with a platinum award in the College Tech Prep Worksite Learning category of the Grimsley-James-Stogner Award for Excellence in North Carolina College Tech Prep.

The platinum award is the highest in its category and the first platinum-level award Cumberland County has received from the College Tech Prep organization.

College Tech Prep is a program designed to provide high school students and new graduates more technical and focused educational training to better prepare for future technical careers. Statewide, 15 winners were chosen in four different categories.

The College Tech Prep Worksite Learning category recognizes programs that demonstrate sound approaches in expanding the classroom through work-based learning.

The College Tech Prep organization presented its awards March 5 in Greensboro during its annual conference, sponsored by the state Board of Education, Department of Public Instruction, state Community College System and state Board of Community Colleges.
