Services For New Members

Welcome to Cape Fear Valley HealthPlex. It is our goal to help you get the maximum benefit out of your HealthPlex membership. If at any time you have a fitness-related question, please do not hesitate to ask one of the Exercise Physiologists at the Fitness Desk. They are here to help you achieve your fitness goals.

You may begin enjoying your HealthPlex membership immediately upon enrollment. To help you get the most out of your membership, we recommend you attend our equipment orientation and personal development session.

Personal Development Session

Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Your personal development session will take 60 to 90 minutes. We will evaluate your current fitness level and design an exercise program specifically for you.

This Personal Development Session has two components:

Health Assessment (30 minutes)

  • Height & Weight
  • Blood Pressure & Resting Pulse
  • Blood Glucose (Blood Sugar)
  • Submaximal Aerobic Capacity Test
  • Personal Wellness Profile (Pick this up at the Fitness Desk when you schedule your appointment)
  • Flexibility Testing
  • Body Composition
  • Total Cholesterol

Development of Your Customized Program (30 – 60 minutes)

Once you have completed your Health Assessment, an exercise physiologist will work with you to design a customized exercise program.

While you are waiting for your scheduled Personal Development Session, we recommend that you try some of the cardiovascular equipment so that you can learn what equipment you enjoy most. Our first priority is creating a program you enjoy that will help you reach your goals.

If you would like to learn how to properly use the cardiovascular and weight-training machines, please schedule an orientation at the fitness desk. An exercise physiologist will show you how to safely use the various types of fitness equipment located on the fitness floor.
