Beginner Group Exercise Classes

Level I classes are for beginning exercisers as well as members who like a no- or low-impact workout. These classes are easy to follow, and instructors will offer modifications to meet your specific exercise goals. Modifications may include higher or lower intensity options or alternative moves. Unless otherwise stated, these classes are free to members.


Core Essentials
This class is 30 minutes of abdominal and back exercises designed to strengthen and tone your torso and develop your abdominal area to its fullest potential. Beginner exercisers may do most exercises on the mat.

Stretch & Breathe
Using Yoga principles, your instructor will encourage you to relax, stretch and focus your mental energy into your physical being.

Stretch & Flex
Learn the fundamentals of flexibility training and improve your range of motion with this 30-minute stretching and relaxation class.

Senior Strength
Strength Training for ages 50 and older. Class includes 30 minutes of strength training in the gym and 45 minutes of independent cardiovascular exercise on the fitness floor.

Chair Aerobics
This is a class for those who have limited mobility, such as individuals with polio, MS or other neuro-muscular impairments. The class features a warm-up, 20 minutes of large muscle group movement to a jazzy beat, 10 minutes of strength exercises, five minutes of stretching and a cool-down.

Bone Builders Osteoporosis Exercise Class
This class is designed for individuals who have osteoporosis or osteopenia, as well as those who are at risk for developing osteoporosis.

Bodypump®
Bodypump is a weight training class done to music that delivers real results, real fast. You’ll use a barbell with adjustable weights - you will choose how light or how heavy. This class works every major muscle group in the body.

Group Cycle
Spinning is a great exercise for all ages because you control your workout by adjusting the resistance on your bike. Certified instructors will motivate you as they guide you through hills and other imagined challenges. You’ll improve your cardiovascular endurance and burn fat!

Pilates
Pilates incorporates gentle, yet challenging exercises to increase strength and tone the back muscles and abdominals. It can help improve your posture, flatten your stomach and strengthen your back.

Hatha Yoga
Yoga will help you increase your flexibility, strength, endurance and mental focus. It is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.

T’ai Chi
Improve your balance and coordination through T’ai Chi’s slow, deliberate movements and posture holding. It’s a great stress reliever and a fantastic exercise for all ages and fitness levels.

Zumba
This class fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic fitness class that will blow you away. Let’s face it working out can be healthy, rewarding and beneficial. Working out can be lots of things but it’s never been fun until now.

Aquatic Beginner Group Exercise Classes
Aquatic exercise offers participants the opportunity to stay fit with less impact to the joints. Exercising in the water offers 12 times the resistance of air, therefore providing the ability to train the cardiovascular, pulmonary and musculoskeletal systems. Aquatic exercise is beneficial to all individuals, including those who have contraindications to exercising on land due to injuries or other limitations. Our Aquatic classes are taught by nationally certified instructors who offer multi-level classes that can challenge both the advanced exerciser and the beginner. If you have any medical problems, please let your instructor know. He or she will offer modifications of specific exercises to meet your needs.

Splish Splach
A moderate-intensity water exercise class. This class focuses on aerobic conditioning, overall toning and increased flexibility.

Aqua Strides
A 30-minute water walking session held in the shallow side of the pool. You’ll do interval training and strength training while walking against your own resistance.

Hydro Power
This is a great class for aerobic training and body conditioning, since water offers 12 times the resistance of air. The class format consists of a warm- up, cardiovascular training, muscle strengthening and a cool- down and stretch phase. Gain all the benefits of an aerobic workout without the excessive impact on joints.

Deep Water Fitness
This is a deep-water class, although you do not have to be a swimmer to participate. You will use Aqua Joggers; float belts, flippers, kickboards or barbells to develop cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and body toning.

Hydro Strength
This is a 30- minute session in the shallow side of the pool that combines intervals of cardiovascular training with strength training segments.

Aquatic Arthritis Program
An aquatic program of the Arthritis Foundation, consisting of warm water activities designed to maintain or increase range of motion, flexibility, and muscle strength for anyone suffering from arthritis. The class meets in the warm- water therapy pool and a physician referral is required for attendance.

Advanced Arthritis
An aquatic program consisting of warm water activities designed to increase range of motion, flexibility, and muscle strength. The class meets in the warm-water therapy pool and a physician referral is required for attendance.
