Lifelink
LifeLink is Cape Fear Valley  Health System’s critical-care transport service, responding  specifically to the needs of adult, pediatric and neonatal  patients. It is capable of transporting critically ill and  injured patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

LifeLink’s two intensive-care  units on wheels are capable of transporting critically ill or  injured adult, pediatric or neonatal patients. LifeLink serves  the Southeastern region of North Carolina.

Our LifeLink units are equipped  with some of the most sophisticated and advanced life support  equipment available. Patients who are transported to Cape Fear  Valley receive care from a medical staff of specialists in the  treatment of critically ill and injured adult, pediatric and  neonatal patients. The medical center provides 34 critical-care  beds for acute care, 64 step-down beds for closely monitoring  the recovering patient, and a comprehensive rehabilitation  program for continued quality care after discharge.

LifeLink provides three levels of  service:

LifeLink consists of an  experienced medical team working together to help ensure that  our patients receive quality inter-facility care. Cellular  communication creates a direct link from the LifeLink vehicle to  a physician at the medical center. A 12-lead EKG can also be  obtained and faxed to a physician for interpretation.

The transport team includes  Critical Care Transport Nurses, EMT-Paramedics and EMT-Drivers.  The transport team for Neonatal Intensive Care patients includes  Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Respiratory  Therapists. The Pediatric transport team includes Critical Care  Transport Nurses and Respiratory Therapists.
