When it comes to Emergency Services, Cape Fear Valley has it covered. Cape Fear Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the state with 100,000 visits a year, 2,000 trauma cases and 6,000 chest pain cases. It includes a dedicated Children’s Emergency Department staffed by physicians and nurses who specialize in pediatrics.
Cumberland County EMS is also under the health system umbrella, and our Emergency Department nurses and physicians work closely with the Paramedics. Our ambulances are equipped with 12-lead EKGs, which allow Paramedics to send baseline EKGs to the Emergency Room physicians while patients are en route to the hospital. If a patient is having a heart attack, the physician can activate the Cardiac Catheterization Lab team to be ready when the patient arrives.
