Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in San Jose, California, Dr. Robert Friedrichs received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Santa Clara in 1966 and his Medical degree from Saint Louis University in 1970.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Friedrichs returned to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to complete a rotating internship, where he was voted Intern of the Year. In lieu of canceled military plans, Dr. Friedrichs started the South Valley Clinic in Gilroy, California, where he stayed for one year.
In 1972, Dr. Friedrichs started his residency at Stanford University for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He then transferred to the Stanford University Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 1973 before finishing his residency in 1977.

Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Friedrichs joined a four man practice in Los Gatos , a suburb of San Jose, where he remained a partner for 15 years. During this time, Dr. Friedrichs served as the Chief of Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose from 1986 to 1988.
Dr. Friedrichs was very involved with teaching at the Stanford University Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department, where he was on paid clinical faculty. He was voted Clinical Faculty Teacher of the Year in both 1990 and 1991.

Dr. Friedrichs has practiced General ENT in Fayetteville ever since he moved to Fayetteville in 1992. His main interests are in head and neck surgery, particularly thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary gland surgery. Dr. Friedrichs is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Friedrichs enjoys reading, gardening, and annual skiing trips with friends. He is married and has one son and two grandchildren.

Dr. Sabrina Francis
Dr. Sabrina Francis
Originally from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, Dr. Sabrina Francis adopted California as her second home after moving to the United States during her teenage years. Dr. Francis completed her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following the completion of her Bachelor's degree, Dr. Francis obtained her medical degree from the University of Southern California.

After completing a research fellowship at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, Dr. Francis went on to do an internship in General Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California. In 2003, Dr. Francis completed her residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital.

Dr. Francis, who always had a love for teaching, was presented with the positions of Assistant Professor of Surgery at Meharry Medical College and Clinical Instructor of Otolaryngology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. 

In 2007, Dr. Francis, wanting to be closer to family, relocated to North Carolina. She worked in the private sector for seven years before joining the new Cape Fear Valley Ears Nose and Throat (ENT) practice in October 2014.

Dr. Francis practices within the entire scope of ENT but particularly enjoys treating Allergy, Rhinology, and Sinus diseases. She treats pediatric patients as well as adults of all ages. Dr. Francis is Board Certified in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head, Neck and Surgery (HNS), the North Carolina Medical Society, and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Being an avid sports fan, Dr. Francis admittedly roots for the Los Angeles Lakers and her alma mater teams, the UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans. In her free time, Dr. Francis travels with her son and daughter to their local and regional swimming competitions.
