How can I sign up for a maternity tour?
To register for a tour of our Family Birth Center, please call CareLink, our 24-hour nurse line, at 609-LINK (5465). The tours, which are offered only on Mondays, are provided free of charge.

I’m going to give birth at the medical center. How do I pre-register?
Your physician should have a copy of the pre-registration form. Once it is completed, simply mail it back to the Family Birth Center (address is located on the form).

Where can I obtain a copy of a birth certificate?
We do not keep birth certificates on file. They are sent to the Cumberland County Vital Statistics Office. The person to contact is Diane Fisher at 910-678-7767. She may be reached by email at dfisher@co.cumberland.nc.us.
How do I get a copy of my medical records?
Because of federal patient-privacy laws, we cannot release medical records without a signed consent form. Please call (910) 609-6787 to request a form – as soon as it is completed and returned to us, your records will be provided to you.Up-to-date information about open positions, benefits and more is always available at www.capefearcareers.com. The site includes contact information for various areas, and an application you can download and complete.

You can give the gift of life by attending one of our blood drives or by calling 609-6300 to make an appointment.

Why are some donors being deferred because of international travel?
Unfortunately, some very generous blood donors have been told in recent years that they can no longer give blood. This is the result of federal guidelines intended to reduce the spread of what is commonly known as “mad cow” disease.

CareLink is staffed by registered nurses and is your one-stop source for health information. Our nurses have access to a library of more than 1,100 general health topics in 53 categories. They can print the health information you've requested and fax or mail copies to you to read and review at your convenience.
If you need a physician, CareLink's nurses will be available to refer you to the type of doctor you need.
CareLink can also help you register for community education classes offered through Cape Fear Valley Health System.

Yes. Internships for student nurses are arranged between the school of nursing in which a student is enrolled and the health system’s Nursing Department. What about the Junior Volunteer Summer Program?
Young persons must be at least 14 years of age by the start of the summer program and have completed the eighth grade.
Applications are made available at the beginning of February and materials must be returned by the end of March. Candidates are interviewed in April and selected by the beginning of May. After completing their first summer of service, Junior Volunteers are invited to volunteer throughout the year.
Junior Volunteers are assigned to work two days a week (Monday through Friday) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, contact Joe Ann O’Briant, Coordinator of the Junior Volunteer Program, at 609-6783.
