Teachers at Max Abbott Middle School present a donation of $338.77 to Deanna Benson-Reed, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center Coordinator. Pennies were collected for the 3rd year by the 6th grade students through the program “Pennies for Patients”.

Services include asthma and diabetes education, assistance and meal vouchers for families in extreme need, toys for children in the pediatric playroom, and other items to make a hospital visit or stay less stressful for the parents and the child. Members of the Primrose Pearls Chapter of the Red Hat Society held bake sales to benefit Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation. All the members work for Cape Fear Valley in the Physician Billing Department. They raised $561 for Friends of the Cancer Center and $757 for Stanton Hospitality House. Stanton Hospitality House provides a place of shelter and comfort for families of loved ones undergoing medical treatment at one of the nearby medical facilities. Stanton Hospitality House offers a temporary, affordable home away from home, where the financial and emotional burdens of illness and hospitalization can be lessened. The donation is for the presenting sponsorship for Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation Gala, which will be held on January 22, 2010.
