You want to keep your local health resource strong. We are living longer today and are often much sicker when we enter the hospital. This leads to higher costs. All sources that pay the Hospital haven’t kept up, including government programs. We are often not paid what it costs to provide care.
You want health care to be available for all. Cape Fear Valley cares for those less fortunate. Many counties we serve are the state’s poorest and many patients are the “working poor.” They earn too much for government assistance and not enough to pay for health insurance. Each year, Cape Fear Valley provides approximately $40 million of care to families who cannot afford to pay their medical bills.
Many communities we serve are rural, making access to care difficult. They depend on our outlying clinics and care programs, among others, for access to the most basic care.
