NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS for Medical Surgical/Progressive Care/Family Center Care/Pediatrics/Adult Emergency Services

Cape Fear Valley Health System offers a comprehensive New Graduate Nurse Residency Programs. We offer students high quality instruction in nursing theory and clinical practice. We are committed to providing an opportunity for the new graduate nurses to build a strong acute care foundation and become highly skilled practitioners. In doing so, a great amount of resources are dedicated to this goal. We ask that residents offer an equally high degree of commitment in return.

Course Descriptions: Medical Surgical/Progressive Care/Family Center Care/Pediatric Residency's are 16 week programs that consist of two weeks of Hospital and Nursing Core Orientation, followed by14 weeks of clinical and classroom experiences designed with the adult learner in mind. The Adult ED program is 20 weeks and follows the same orientation model as the other programs.

July 28, 2014 (Adult Emergency Services)
August 11, 2014 (All other programs)

At this time, we will only be accepting December 2013 and May 2014 new graduate RNs. All applicants must have the following when applying to the Residency Program.

External Applicants:

  • Online Employment Application. Upon receipt of your application a recruiter will email you confirmation as well as the required residency packet and template for clinical or preceptor references (2) if you do not already have them in a different format.
  • Complete and return the Residency packet, current resume, and references to your recruiter. Please do not delay sending the packet back if you are waiting on references. You may submit them at a later date.

Current Cape Fear Valley Health Employees:

  • Complete Employee Transfer Application. Upon receipt of your application a recruiter will email you confirmation as well as the required residency packet and template for clinical or preceptor references (2) if you do not already have them in a different format.
  • Complete and return the Residency packet, current resume, and references back to your recruiter.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and be able to provide a copy of your degree or official transcript by start of the program.
  • Have current RN license for North Carolina or meet the guidelines to practice under another state RN Compact license by start of program.
  • Only New Graduate RNs with less than 7 months relevant RN work experience will be considered for the program.

Cape Fear Valley reviews all online applications. You must meet the minimum qualifications of the position to be considered. Only applicants who have applied online and returned all of the required documents will be considered. Submission of an application and required documents is not a guarantee that you will be selected to interview. You will only be contacted directly if you are selected to interview.
