Friends Fundraisers
To support Cancer Center patients and their families and further its outreach mission, the Friends of the Cancer Center organize annual fundraisers, including:

Cooking To Help Fight Cancer
In 2005, the Friends of the Cancer Center created a cookbook, Food To Warm The Soul, to sell. Volunteers, patients and employees contributed their favorite recipes for the cookbook. The cookbook even includes an entire section with tips on how to eat while undergoing cancer treatment.

To date, more than 600 cookbooks have been sold, and more than $8,000 has been raised. To get your copy of Food To Warm The Soul, please call (910) 615-7618.

RibbonWalk for Cancer
In the fall, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center join forces to host the RibbonWalk For Cancer. In 2009, the walk hosted more than 600 walkers and raised more than $65,000 to benefit cancer patients in our area.

This year's walk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The walk begins at 10 a.m.

For more information about the Ribbon Walk or to register, please call (910) 615-7618 or visit www.RibbonWalkForCancer.org.

Striking Out Cancer
In the summer, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center join forces with the Fayetteville Swampdogs baseball team for a fun-filled night of striking out cancer. Cancer survivors are honored in a special CancerWalk during the seventh inning stretch. Commemorative pink jerseys worn by Swampdogs players are auctioned off during the game. In 2009, the game raised more than $6,000 to benefit cancer patients in our area.

This year's game will be held on Saturday, July 17, at J.P. Riddle Stadium. For more information, please call (910) 615-7618 or visit www.goswampdogs.com.
